MCDD Open Board Positions

The Peninsula Drainage District #2 and the Sandy Drainage Improvement Company are currently seeking to fill vacant board positions. The next few years will be a particularly important time for the districts as they undertake the investigation, repair, and potential improvement of the levee system that protects a critical portion of the Portland region.

Temporary Runway Closures and 
Military Aircraft Operations – Evening Training
Portland International Airport

Military Aircraft Operations – Evening Training | February 23-26, 2015

Portland/Vancouver metro area residents may notice a temporary change in aircraft flight activity due to the Oregon Air National Guard 142nd Fighter Wing performing evening training operations February 23-26, 2015. The first group is expected to depart between 2-3 p.m., and a second group between 6-7 p.m.

Evening training is required to ensure pilots are fully prepared for both day and night operations. It is anticipated most flights will be completed by 10 p.m. on all dates.

Temporary Runway Closures Portland International Airport | February 24-26, 2015

Maintenance activities will require the temporary closure of the south runway (Rwy 10L/28R) on February 24-26, 2015, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. 

During this closure, jet aircraft will use the north parallel runway (Rwy 10R/28L), following noise abatement procedures that direct them over the Columbia River corridor, minimizing overflights of residential areas. In addition, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) air traffic controllers may need to route the small regional cargo feeder aircraft and commuter turboprop aircraft to the crosswind runway (Rwy 3/21), which is oriented north/south. The Port is working with the FAA to minimize use of the crosswind runway whenever possible.
