| TriMet is laser-focused on rolling out our Forward Together Service Concept. It’s our roadmap to expand bus service by more than 30% as we redesign our bus network to bring more service to more people. We’ve put together a bundle of improvements and adjustments that we’d like to start putting in place as soon as August of 2024. But we need the community’s help to make sure the plan we put together will best serve the transportation needs of our region. Does it fulfill our goals to increase our ridership and improve connections for people with low and limited incomes who rely on transit to get to work, school and important appointments every day? | Explore the science of environmental cleanups while learning about Willamette Cove! Test your skills with science challenges All-ages scavenger hunt and games Exploration stations for learning about Willamette Cove history and cleanup science Meet the environmental scientists working at Willamette Cove Connect with community groups About Willamette Cove: The Willamette River holds historical, natural, and cultural significance for our region’s Tribes. Since time immemorial, Indigenous people have relied on the river for traditional ceremonies, celebrations and harvests that are essential cultural practices. Today, Tribes and local Indigenous communities are among the most impacted by environmental contamination. Willamette Cove is a former industrial site in North Portland along the east bank of the Willamette River. The in-water, shoreline, and upland areas of Willamette Cove require environmental cleanup to address human and ecological health risks from historical industrial contamination for the site to become a nature park in the future. Event Partners: The event is sponsored by the City of Portland, Oregon Department of State Lands, Port of Portland, and Metro. Co-sponsors: Blueprint Foundation, Portland Harbor Community Coalition, Portland Harbor Community Advisory Group , and Portland Audubon. Questions? | Volunteer for the Annual Beach & Riverside Cleanup! |
Let’s Make a Splash Together! Join the 2023 Beach & Riverside Cleanup. Calling all nature enthusiasts and eco-conscious volunteers! The annual Beach & Riverside Cleanup is open for registration. Mark your calendars for September 9th to 17th, as SOLVE brings you over 60 project sites spanning the Oregon Coast, Portland, the Willamette Valley, and Southern Oregon – with the main events culminating on Saturday, September 16th. Whether you’re a coastal explorer or a city dweller there’s a site just for you! This event has become a cherished tradition for countless community members and families, and we invite everyone to be a part of our incredible journey towards environmental stewardship by volunteering at one of our many available beach cleanups, river cleanups, or habitat restoration events. Why Join? Be a part of decades of stewardship. This initiative has united communities and removed over 2.5 million pounds of litter and marine debris from Oregon’s waterways since its inception in 1986. Make a tangible impact. Last year, 3,000 volunteers removed 50,000 pounds of debris! Let’s make waves together! Saturday, September 16th is International Coastal Cleanup Day. SOLVE is teaming up with the Ocean Conservancy Group to be a part of the worldwide effort to eliminate trash from our coastline. SOLVE is dedicated to protecting and improving Oregon’s natural spaces, and we can’t do it without dedicated and passionate volunteers like yourself. Let’s keep Oregon pristine and breathtaking for generations to come. Together, we can turn the tide on pollution!SOLVE’s Beach & Riverside Cleanup is in partnership with Subaru of Portland, and additional support from OnPoint Community Credit Union, Bamboo Sushi, Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, Metro, BottleDrop, Knife River, Koin, Fred Meyer, Chevron, Clean Water Services, Tillamook County Creamery Association, and Tektronix.
Event Highlight: Heart of Cartm Nehalem Bay Cleanup
At the end of summer, SOLVE mobilizes dozens of community-led projects and thousands of volunteers to protect and improve Oregon’s waterways from source to sea. This year, we are proud to highlight the Downtown Nehalem and Riverside Cleanup hosted by The City of Nehalem, in cooperation with Heart of Cartm. Every year an estimated eight-million metric tons of plastic enters the ocean, and 80% of all marine debris comes from inland sources. Come be part of the solution by joining this cleanup event.“The critical focus area of this Fall cleanup will be the flood zone in downtown Nehalem.” explains Jessi Just, Heart of Cartm Executive Director. “However, all roadside and yard litter will eventually get carried out to sea with rain and wind. Once it’s in the water, it becomes more costly to remove and a greater hazard to wildlife. Don’t let those King Tides take out your trash!” If you want to take part in this annual Oregon tradition, please register through the link on the button below.
Bear Creek Stewardship Day Fall 2023

This cleanup event is about creating a local community-based investment in keeping the Bear Creek corridor clean and keeping trash out of the stream. The Bear Creek Stewards are leading NINE cleanup and restoration events at creek access points starting from the following locations: Alba Drive in Medford, Northridge Terrace in Medford, McAndrews Road, Coyote Trails, Hawthorne Park, Blue Heron Park, Pine St in Central Point, Wranglers Arena in Ashland, and Lynn Newbry Park in Talent.Just like the Bear Creek Stewards, you too can make a monumental difference in your community.
